  • About Me
WRITER, TEACHER, FEMINIST, TRAVELER: After my youngest of four children began elementary school, I embodied the words of the late Erma Bombeck who said: “I do not feel fulfilled cleaning chrome faucets with a toothbrush. It’s my turn” by enrolling in the local community college with the intent of achieving my long-awaited dream of a college education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Oklahoma with a B. A. in Creative Writing and a Master of Arts degree. Quite a feat since I had been married off at seventeen to fulfill the Southern view of female gender roles, i.e., get married, have babies, live a submissive life. I have lived in the Oklahoma City area my entire life save three wretched years in a very, cold Iowa town on the Mississippi river. Upon returning to the land of red clay, horned toads, and rose rocks, I declared that “wild horses couldn’t drag me away from here again” and deemed the Oklahoma City skyline as my “Emerald City.”
