I was born and raised in Provo, Utah. I am the second oldest of twelve children, and the mother of five. Not to mention the proud Nana of eight beautiful grandchildren. I have a B.S. in Behavioral Science with a Minor in Substance Abuse Disorder Counseling. I live in beautiful Monterey County with my wonderful husband where I am an active member of AA and my community. I found peace and healing in the rooms of AA and through working the 12 steps. I wrote a book about my journey through healing from alcoholism and childhood and adulthood trauma and how I found healing and forgiveness. Additionally, I continue to blog about my experience, strength, and hope for anyone who needs it at bymarielena.net My hope is that through my own passing from pain into forgiveness, others may find their own path through as well.
