Dean Cycon is a writer, lawyer and social entrepreneur who has lived or worked in over sixty countries, receiving multiple international awards for his work in indigenous communities and the environment. He has been writing since the fourth grade, when he received a Medal from NYC Mayor John Lindsay for the Best Fire Prevention Essay. More recently, his narrative nonfiction Javatrekker received a Gold Medal as Best Travel Essay of 2008 by the IBPA and a PW Starred Review. His first novel, Finding Home (Hungary, 1945) was released in June 2023 by Koehler Books. The Emissaries, a 13th century medieval roadtrip in search of spices and mythical kings, will be published by Koehler in November, 2024. He is workshopping The Inquisitor's Apprentice at this conference and thinking about an agent and a larger publisher.
