A woman and her small daughter are living in a tiny shack in a small town after running away from her abusive husband. They are very poor. She writes down wishes on pink pieces of paper. She releases them outside where they find their way onto the hero’s farm, where he has chickens and a very large dog.

Her roof collapses after a huge snow/ice storm. They move in with the hero, who helps her become her own person again.
