Admin_99 Posted May 31, 2022 Share Posted May 31, 2022 While June isn’t quite so packed with urgent new series as, say, April and May, there are still some very choice selections coming your way soon, led by a Tony Hillerman adaptation and closing out with your goodbye to the Shelby clan of Birmingham. Dark Winds AMC – Premieres June 12th The long-awaited adaptation of Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn and Chee series is finally here, brought to the screen by Graham Roland, with a starry executive producer corps that includes Chris Eyre, Robert Redford, and George RR Martin. Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon take on the iconic leading roles, which keeps its original 1970s Southwest setting and navigates a web of corruption and crime closing in on the Navajo tribe. The Old Man FX – Premieres June 16th Jeff Bridges is in a TV series for the first time in a very long while, and the occasion happens to be an adaptation of the 2017 Thomas Perry novel about an old CIA hand flushed out of hiding by a would-be assassin and forced to go on the run, although in this case “the run” doubles as a kind of revenge tour. Expect some John Wick vibes softened by Bridges’ irrepressible humanity, as well as gorgeous shots from Morocco, where the bloody trail leads. Only Murders in the Building Hulu – Premieres (season 2) June 28th Hulu’s delightful Upper West Side murder mystery is back for a new season and more adventures in podcasting, with the original cast returning and getting some new blood with the addition of Shirley MacLaine, Amy Schumer, and Cara Delevingne, the last of whom will be playing an art world maven, a character that should take the show in a few interesting and quintessentially New York directions. Chloe Prime – Premieres June 24th The major streaming services have of course pledged to bring American audiences at least one psychological thriller per month about British class anxieties and amateur sleuths, and this month it’s Chloe. If you like that sort of thing, you’re probably going to find your way to this one. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Netflix – Premieres June 24th The Money Heist IP is spreading around the world, for better or worse, and this month Netflix is bringing the model to a near-future Korea where north and south have been unified under a single currency and a gang of would-be heisters has assembled to relieve the new economic zone of some of its currency while also making a few pointed comments on global capitalism. ___________________________________ Further Viewing ___________________________________ Westworld Season 4 (June 27 / HBO): Did you forget it was still on?
