‘Alice was a historian, which meant that part of her wanted that connection to people over the centuries, people who would never and could never meet and yet still had something In common with each other.’ The Dark Between The Trees Fiona Barnett Author Fiona Barnett on the book: “This story is a mashup of so many of my favourite things: campfire stories, ordinary foot-soldiers in one of the most exciting parts of British history, the things that come slithering out of the darkest part of the woods, and competent women yelling at each other. I’m thrilled that the folks at Rebellion have come with me into the mists of this particular deep forest, and I can’t wait…

I’m a science fiction and fantasy novelist, writing both original SF&F and Marvel books. My first novel, QUIETUS, was published in 2018. Its sequel, TERMINUS, came out later that same year. I’ve also been writing a whole bunch of novels for Marvel. DOMINO: STRAYS and OUTLAW: RELENTLESS came out in September of 2020 and 2021, respectively. My most recent book, THE SIEGE OF X-41, an undersea horror X-Men novel, came out just this May. And my next, the affectionate parody SQUIRREL GIRL UNIVERSE, is coming out this August. Yes, that is only four months after my last book… and less than a year from the novel before that one. Three novels in the span of eleven months. I’…

Greetings to you, all ye future corpses. Tis I, Ulesorin the Green, master of three out of the four winds, undisputed champion of the arcane – regardless of what that bitch Gondalion the White says – and most importantly to you, I am the keeper of the secret lore; that which has led to my station as the Uncle of Catastrophy. The Cousin of Despair. The Aunt of Agonies! *** Dear Ulesorin, I am struggling in my current role, the work is great but I have way too much of it. I’ve been headhunted by another mercenary group for better pay and conditions, but leaving would mean I get cursed by the local hedgewitches for the next thousand years. What would you recommend? *…

The year is 1764, and following a glowing recommendation from his last employer, Henry Coffey, vampire, takes on a new personal secretary: young Theophilus Essex. The man is quite unlike any secretary – or any man, for that matter – that Henry has ever met. — ‘Heart of Stone’ is a slowly unfolding period romance between a vampire and his inimitably devoted clerk: lushly depicted in flowing, lovingly appended prose, we follow the slow understanding these two men grasp of one another, and the cross of their two worlds into each other’s. Henry Coffey, immortal and ever-oscillating between periods of delighted focus upon his current passion project, is charming, w…

We’ll be sticking to a reading schedule, which I’ll post below; we’ll be posting discussion points and questions every Monday via social media, and then Nils and I will be sharing our responses to these every Thursday. Be sure to follow our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to catch our Monday posts. You can also join in our discussion on our Discord server. Week …

Xander wasted a lifetime creating cheap disposable ideas to sell cheap disposable products. He’s now focused on creating cheap disposable stories. When not writing he’s reading, watching film & TV, hanging with Sarah, Hesper, and Hattie, and occasionally playing the odd video game. He has a few more stories brewing that may be disposed of soon. Hello Xander, and welcome to The Fantasy Hive. Thank you so much for agreeing to take part in this interview! Thank you for having me during these frugal times. At least, I assume there’s an author shortage if I’ve made the grade. Haha, not at all! We are excited to hear more about Meta: Game on. To start us off…

Content warnings: Anxiety/panic attacks; discussion of terminal/chronic illness; discussion of poverty, both systemic and individual, and classism; restriction of access to healthcare. Winter Fae takes a job at the Summer Palace with two goals in mind: keep his sister alive, and keep his family’s secrets safe. He intends to keep his head down and avoid drawing attention, but that plan crumbles when he crosses paths with the notoriously reckless Prince Arturo, who’s last in line for the throne and would rather see the world than rule it. Arturo claims he knows someone who can cure Winter’s sister for good, if Winter can trust him enough to travel across the country. But …

Content warnings: (from the author) sexual content, violence, ableism (including internalized), foreshortened future/PTSD, epileptic seizures, remembered child abuse, remembered death of a lover. I’d also add that this is not a queernorm world and the MCs (one trans, both MLM) are sometimes scared of discovery of their identities. Bennett Reynard needs one thing: to speak to the Rougarou about starting a union for shifters in New York City before the delegation arrives. When his dirigible finally lands in Louisiana, he finds the Rougarou is gone and in his stead is his handsome son, Theo, who seems to care for everyone but himself. Hoping he can still petition the Rouga…
