Welcome back to Get Rec’d! This time, I’m featuring two recommendations from readers. I always love hearing about books that may be of interest to the Bitchery. I’ve also included two of my favorite books to suggest, as I feel like they’re vastly underrated and I selfishly want more people to read them. What recommendations have you received lately? Anything you want to recommend to us? Let us know! The Bright and Breaking Sea This is one of my favorite recommendations to give, especially to readers who aren’t plugged into Chloe’s Chicagoland Vampires series. This is a seafaring adventure …

Not Your Average Hot Guy Not Your Average Hot Guy by Gwenda Bond is $2.99! This is the first book in a series of paranormal rom-coms. I remember a lot of people being curious about this one (myself included), but it seems like it didn’t quite live up to the hype. A paranormal romantic comedy at the (possible) end of the world. From New York Times bestselling author Gwenda Bond, Not Your Average Hot Guy is a hilarious romantic comedy about two people falling in love, while the fate of the world rests on their shoulders. All Callie wanted was a quiet weekend with her …

In February, Tor announced their new romance imprint, Bramble, and we had some questions about it! Fortunately, VP and Executive Editor Monique Patterson sat down with me on her first day in her new position at Bramble to tell us all the things. We also discuss how romance has changed and evolved over her career as an editor, and about being a nerd about many things including sword collecting and baking. My favorite part of this conversation: How James Baldwin and Zora Neale Hurston influenced Monique’s acquisitions as a romance editor. … Music: purple-planet.com Listen to the podcast → Read the transcript → Here are the books …

Georgie, All Along Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn is $5.99! Now this isn’t a super big discount, but if you’re still stuck in the dreaded library hold queue and you’re eager to read it, this price is still cheaper than the usual $9.99 ebook or $16.95 paperback. The acclaimed author of Love Lettering weaves a wise and witty new novel that echoes with timely questions about love, career, reconciling with the past, and finding your path while knowing your true worth. Longtime personal assistant Georgie Mulcahy has made a career out of putting others before herself.…

This week is the Hometowns episode of The Bachelor, when our titular “hero” meets the contestant’s’ families. It’s always painfully cringy. It’s also been a rough week at Chez Elyse. I have the cold from hell and just did a shot of cold medicine to make it through the recap. Pudding had her annual vet visit and, because she’s a spicy girl, had to wear a muzzle. Even as she was trying to maim the vet, the vet kept saying, “You’re so pretty though!” Pudding is a healthy 17-year-old, BTW. “I hate you, mother” Pudding: Are we watching the show? Put the muzzle back on. At least I can’t see in that thing. We open with another shot of Zach in the shower. How dull does he ha…

B+ The Gentleman’s Book of Vices by Jess Everlee November 29, 2022 · Carina Adores Romance I very much enjoyed The Gentlemen’s Book of Vices, by Jess Everlee, despite an ending that I thought was a bit of a cop-out. This was a gentle, fun, and sexy book that explores the love between two men in Victorian England, one a reader and one a writer. I fell into the warm cadence between the two protagonists and loved and worried about them and delighted in their joys. Our story begins with Charlie, a man who is about to m…
