This HaBO request is Susan, who wants to track down this historical romance: I’m looking for a historical romance I read a few years ago. The heroine answers an ad for a position (can’t recall what it was for, maybe a governess?). In reality the hero had placed the ad under false pretenses. He is really looking for a wife and is using the ad to find somebody inappropriate to his family. He decides she’s the one that will really annoy his family. I think he had a falling out with his father (who is a duke?). I recall that she is the oldest or second oldest of a large family that is orphaned. She and her older brother have gone to London to earn money to send home to the …

Welcome to Wednesday Links! A Toast update! We installed a cat cam in the spare room, just to see how much exploring Toast was doing. That boy loves gazing out the window and looking at himself in the mirror. This weekend, we have plans to open up the second floor a little bit (which is just a bathroom, master bed, and spare room) and put a gate up at the top of the stairs. Linus is very curious and loves to sniff Toast’s things, but doesn’t seem agitated by other cat smells. All good things! For those in the States, do you have any Memorial Weekend plans? I’m moving the last of my furniture into the new apartment. I’m anxious (moving is high on my list of things that s…

Heartbreaker Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean is $1.99! This is book two in the Hell’s Belles series. It also appears to be a road trip romance, which I happen to enjoy! New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean follows her highly acclaimed Bombshell with Heartbreaker, featuring a fierce, fearless heroine on a mission to steal a duke’s secrets…and his heart. HEARTBREAKER Hell’s Belles, Book 2 A Princess of Thieves Raised among London’s most notorious criminals, a twist of fate landed Adelaide Frampton in the bright ballrooms of Mayfair, where she masquerades as …
