Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Wednesday Links! I’m getting over the flu, so that should give plenty of indication how my weekend went. I also got to see a little bit of my partner’s hometown and grabbed some delicious bagels from a local shop (toasted sesame with bacon scallion cream cheese). I love me a bagel, though the best I’ve had was in Montreal (St. Viateur – sesame with just butter). Any fellow bagel lovers in the audience? I’m definitely thankful for the long weekend and for the opportunities to laze around. … As a reminder, Tara from SBTB hosts a podcast with author Kris Bryant called Queerly Recommended. C+ Death in Soho by Emily Organ July 31, 2021 Historical: EuropeanMystery/Thriller This was an excellent airplane book. I found it on Kindle Unlimited in the airport, and read it on a two hour flight. It held my attention, but was light enough that I could read quickly and not feel like I was taxing my tired brain. I have put in as much detail as I can remember: This was a Harlequin romance written 1960-1980 and takes place in contemporary Spain. An English girl travels to Spain and marries a Spanish lord/landowner. I don’t remember if it was arranged or due to being discovered in compromising situation. Neither one was in the medical profession. Unlike other novels of that type at that time, they immediately spent the night/had sex and continued to do so for much of the book. The book cover showed her left side, close up, and him to the right but further back. This sounds l…

This Rec League comes from Will. Thanks, Will! I’m looking for a recommendation of a queer romance novel (ideally f/f or m/m or trans) with great side characters. I’d love a book with the feeling that the side characters have their own lives and their own stories. Bonus points if they don’t ship the main couple, get bored when the main character talks about their love life or are so occupied with their own problems they don’t let the mc get a word in edgewise. Quirky or deeply strange side characters are also good. Sarah: The first series that pops in my mind is Queers of La Vista by Kris Ripper. If I recall, there’s a lovely evolving group of friends in the five books.…
